Moritz Ahlert is Post-Doc at Habitat Unit (Institut für Architektur – TU Berlin) and part of Transforming Solidarities. Praktiken und Infrastrukturen in der Migrationsgesellschaft (TS), an interdisciplinary consortium of scholars who are conceptualizing and approaching Berlin as a laboratory of migration society – that is, a society that is fundamentally and irrevocably transformed by migration. Through case studies that examine the interconnected areas of labor, housing and health the research project TS explores how solidarity is negotiated and investigate practices and infrastructures that condition or limit solidarity. TS argues that labor, housing, and health are not only sites of societal reproduction in crisis – so often diagnosed today – but also key arenas for the political, social, and material negotiation of solidarity relations. He will focus in his presentation on the recent exhibition Spaces of Solidarity (Deutsches Architektur Zentrum, 10.2023 – 01.2024), which he curated and the ongoing transdisciplinary urban intervention series Kiosk of Solidarity, which he initiated in 2023 together with Constructlab.
